Growing up, my family always had English Setters. I always dreamed of having a dog of my own, but my dad didn’t want another one in the house, so he put it off for years. Then one day, he told me that if I were to get a dog, he wanted me to find something that truly fit my needs. I’m an avid hunter — dove, duck, pheasant, sharptail grouse, and deer — and while the English Setters we had never retrieved, I still wanted a versatile pointer and loved their classic look. After doing some research, I discovered the Small Munsterlander: a breed that can do everything in the field and be a wonderful family companion.

In the summer of 2016, I brought home my first pup. I ran her in a NAVHDA Natural Ability test, where she earned a Prize II. She turned out to be everything I had hoped for and more. Now, my goal is to keep her bloodline alive and help other families find the dog of their dreams!

About the Small Munsterlander

The Small (Kleiner) Munsterlander should be 20-22 inches tall at the withers.(This may vary by an inch depending on sex.) They will weigh between 35lbs and 55lbs.
The breed itself is a Versatile Pointer and Retriever who was almost extinct, but was kept in existence from only a few people. They were found in Munster Germany and bred to keep their strong hunting and appearance traits as their breed grew. When you first look at a SM you will notice they resemble a Setter or a Spaniel, but when hunting they have abilities that blow those breeds out of the water. The Small Munsterlander is a very Intelligent, trainable and loving dog. We as breeders keep this breed very healthy by testing our dogs many ways to make sure they are the right one to keep the bloodline going.
I do advise everyone to bring their puppies to the NAVHDA N/A test, when you bring your dog and then watch the rest of the breeds in the tests, you will then know how truly talented this breed is.
